Baby Strollers: What Type Should I Get?

Baby Strollers: What Type Should I Get? by Joe Smith

If you're looking for more mobility in your life, try a baby stroller. Baby strollers and their accessories have become one of the most important things in the lives of parents due to the increased mobility and freedom they bring. Aren't yet sure? Ask any parent who travels by car, plane, or train about how to get his or her child from home to where they're going; everyone will say that he or she has used a baby stroller at least once. So, what type of stroller is good for you? Well, that all depends on the features you need and the price you want to spend. Baby strollers do come in various shapes and sizes, so choose wisely based on what you need. Of course, you should always consider price, and many strollers have varying levels of quality that you'll want to keep in mind. Don't simply go for the cheapest baby stroller as you may simply have to replace it later on down the road.

Let's talk about the various types of strollers. First of all, you may be familiar with "umbrella" type strollers. These do not have actual umbrellas attached to the carriage, so please do not feel as though you can safely take your baby out into the rain! The reason they're called umbrella strollers is for their portability; you can normally take these onto an airplane as checked luggage as they fold up much like an umbrella. You can also fit these into your trunk for easy travel on road trips. One downside to an umbrella stroller: your child normally sits forward-facing, which means that you won't be able to watch him or her at all times. Make sure that when you're using this type of stroller not to give him or her any small toys to prevent a choking hazard.

Another type of stroller you may be well familiar with is a standard "carriage-type" stroller. You may have seen these on television on old British shows being called "prams." Either way they are the same. Your baby often sits rear-facing, and is most suitable for babies or infants who shouldn't be left out of sight for extended periods of time. While there are many pros to this type of stroller, one of its cons is that it doesn't travel well; you'll find that these normally don't fold up nearly as well as an umbrella type, so these are typically left at home on trips.

I certainly hope that this article has given you some ideas on which type of baby stroller you'd like to use.
